AND STORY BEHIND THE NEW MASCARA

Mascara is the number one selling color cosmetic product on the market, selling well over a billion units a year. Because of this fact, innovation to mascara has always been vitally important. Mascara was first created commercially in 1913 by T.L. Williams for his sister Mable. It came in a tin jar and consisted of coal dust and Vaseline. It was applied with a cotton tip and must have looked quite the sight. In fact that was the predecessor to the Maybelline company comprising of the words Mable and �ine� from the word Vaseline. The next major change came in 1957 when Helena Rubinstein created the, what is now standard, tube and wand. While the mascara industry has gone through numerous improvements and innovations, changing shapes and sizes, brushes and formulas, colors and materials and even coming up with a vibrating wand, nevertheless the basic premise of a tube and wand has remained the same now for over half a century. Creating a one handed mascara applicator is the first major change to mascara application in over fifty years. In itself this is a huge accomplishment and has been the holy grail for many companies to date. Belvada Cosmetics is the first company to make this a reality.



Let us understand some of its advantages over the tube and wand.



In the traditional tube and wand, there is always the disadvantage in itself of having to deal with two components, and while when sitting at home in front of a mirror this does not present a problem, there are many other day to day situations when it would be so much more convenient to just have to deal with one component.



When using the tube and wand, the wand with the brush on the end is pulled through the wiper from the base of the brush to the tip. Because the tip of the brush tends to be narrower than the body of the brush, the residue of the brush being wiped, is automatically deposited at the end of the brush creating what is commonly referred to as �glob�.



At the same time most women have the tendency to want to load up the brush with more mascara and often do a pumping action with the tube inside the wand. This introduces a lot more air into the container and into the formula. This causes the formula to start drying up, which of course necessitates more pumping, and a vicious circle ensues, the formula becomes drier, creating clumps and flakiness until ultimately the product is thrown away, very often still half full.



Finally because the only area that can be gripped during application is the cap attached to the wand, ultimately the distance between fingers and brush can be as much as three inches that does not lend itself to being able to fully control the brush, especially in the corner areas of the eyes or the lower lashes where the lashes tend to be far shorter and not as easy to apply to.



With the new Belvada Mascara Noir, one handed applicator, the process that takes place is the complete opposite. The brush is situated at the bottom of the container and always surrounded by formula that settles around it due to gravity and the shape of the interior of the container, that is condusive to the formula moving downwards. The brush is actually finding its way up through the formula and is being wiped from the tip of the brush down to the base. The advantage of this is that all residue that takes places with the wiping system is left on the interior of the container. The unique and patent pending double wiper system that the applicator uses is beneficial in two ways, firstly it ensures that there is absolutely minimal glob on the tip of the brush as well as allows the brush to be perfectly loaded so that not just is pumping not necessary but it is also detrimental to the product as it will overload the brush and secondly it minimizes the amount of air that can penetrate even when the applicator is open, ensuring that the product inside stays fresh a lot longer and maintains the consistency and feel of the mascara throughout its use.



In addition the applicator has an ergonomic design to it, so that it tapers towards the end creating a very comfortable pen like feel to it, allowing the user to grip it right up to the very brush itself giving maximum control for the user and absolute comfort during its use.



The formula itself has been specially designed to work with this applicator and provides great color, curl and definition to the eyelashes, as well as has natural ingredients that have shown to help lashes grow when used regularly.

IMPORTANT USAGE INSTRUCTIONS



There are a few very important points to remember during usage.



1. First of all take the time to get used to the applicator, it is different to traditional mascaras and may need a couple of tries to get used to it.

2. Since the brush is fully loaded when it comes up, make sure to use the brush before pushing it in and out again, since if the brush is overloaded the wipers will not be able to deal with it, and it may cause glob on the top.

3. The cap plays a very important role in the functionality of the applicator. Since when the brush is retracted it may leave some residue in the open well at the top of the mascara, the cap is specially designed with a pintle on the inside of it that cleans out the well and ensures that any excess mascara is pushed back inside the applicator. Therefore it is important to make sure that the cap is tightly replaced between uses to ensure that the next time it is used there will be no glob at the tip.
